this book is a collection of short stories; all revolved around the after math of the american-viatnam war.
it was written very poetically and lyrically as olen butler always dose. his style of writing tends to always add a flair to his ideas, portray them more; magicaly.
these short stories, in contrary to what you may assume, are pretty general, you very much dont have to know anything about the war exept for the fact that it happend in the 60s between america and Vietnam to help the people against the ruling of the communist.
in any case, I found them very moveing. in their unique journey with the lives of people in a constant feel of estrangement considering the merger of these cultures.
they are a large variety of stories that enclude: "Mr. green" which is a story about a girl whos grandfather use to own a parrot that constantly repeated his words, the story pretty much spoke of the conflicts between the Buddhists and Catholics in Vietnam. but mostly about the sexism in Vietnam, there's also "preparation" about a women that is preparing her much more beautiful best friend whos married to the man she secretly loved, to be berried. and then there is "missing" a story of an MIA (missing in action) soldier that ends up marring a Vietnamese lady.
this moved me to larg extents mainly for its great variety, perfect portraiel of a whole culture effected by war, and over all fragile humanity.
I would recommend this book to literally, anyone, and I dont usually do that..

the waste land: book review.
there is a very small quantity of poetry volumes, and books in general that could compare to the quality of this book.
it has achieved such a collection of achievements that are so very difficult, and as a collaboration have never been seen.
first: any holder of a respectable degree in English literature, or student, or even your average avid reader would tell you; the waste land is the mother of all avant gard.
and that alone is a tremendous achievement, but to achieve it while still holding the love and respect of the masses and critics alike, makes t.s.Eliot, the greatest poet of all times.
I do not exaggerate in this review, on the contrary, the poems of Mr. Eliot hold such great depth and strong emotions , that are put in the most interestingly, aesthetically, vulgar of ways that uncontrollably and involuntarily hold your attentions.
in it`s simplicity, and down right, incomprehensible complexity, I personally think, the waste land, is the best poetry volume of all times.

HELP NEEDED!: a good book.
It has dawned on me, that there is this longing in my heart, one that I have discovers only recently.for a really good book.
and I am no talking about the usual 3 and a half stars kind, the kind with a nice story , and entertaining way of writing..
I am talking about the real deal, the whole packaged, something like little women, or pride and prejudice, or Les miserables.
I want a book with a very unique , somewhat Mellon collie way of writing, one that would intensely fascinate me, and very much pull me further away from my surroundings.
I want a life changing ,thought stirring book, one with a compelling story, a large verity of vocabulary, mind blowing similes and imageries, with a unique vision, and it would be entertaining and thought provocative..
I do realize that my standards are intensely high, however one book is all I as for...
so if you happen to know a book that really did blow you off your seat, please recommend it to me in the comment section bellow.
p.c: I am an intensely slow reader, so please be patient with the review :D
